Wall object // blue + green

This wall object, part of the Vals Plat series, is created by using a silkscreen technique, with which Marjolein implements the knowledge of the craft in an experimental way. Using self-made squeegees she spreads acrylic ink on to stretched screens and creates layered structures and embossings.

The origin of Vals Plat lies in the Dutch landscape, often perceived as flat and endless. Experiences such as fresh hay, wide-open views, dancing reeds by the water, and skies with early morning sunlight continue to inspire her color combinations.

Marjolein lives and works in Zieuwent, in the Achterhoek region of the Netherlands. During her time at ArtEZ University of the Arts in Arnhem, the screen-printing workshop in the Rietveld building became her second home. There, she experimented extensively with the possibilities of screen printing. Later, she moved to Helsinki to further develop her knowledge and skills in the world of textiles.
